How to display your Microsoft Outlook calendar on the Invisible Display

The Invisible Smart Display can show your Microsoft Outlook calendar. There are two ways: connect your Microsoft account in the app, or point the display at a published ICS link.

Connect your Microsoft account

This works with personal Outlook.com, Hotmail and Live accounts, and with Microsoft 365 work or school accounts.

  1. Update the Invisible Computers app to the latest version.
  2. Open the calendar settings of your display.
  3. Tap Connect to new calendar provider, then Connect Microsoft Outlook.
  4. Tap Continue with Microsoft and sign in with your Microsoft account.
  5. Allow read access to your calendars.
  6. Back in the app, choose which of your calendars the display should show.

The display then updates by itself, usually within a few minutes of a change in your calendar.

We only ever read your events. We never create, change or delete anything in your calendar. You can disconnect the account at any time in the app, under the calendar source, or withdraw access at Microsoft directly: account.live.com/consent/Manage for personal accounts, myapps.microsoft.com for work or school accounts. What we store is described in our privacy policy.

Work or school accounts

Some organizations require their IT administrator to approve apps. If you see a message that approval is needed, ask your administrator to approve "Invisible Computers". If they do not approve it, you can publish an ICS link instead, as described below. That works without any approval, as long as your organization allows calendar publishing.

Publish an ICS link

Use this if your calendar is on an on-premises Exchange server, if your organization does not allow connecting apps, or if you would rather not connect your account.

  1. Publish your Outlook calendar with permissions set to "Can view all details". This link takes you straight to the setting: outlook.office.com/calendar/options/calendar/SharedCalendars
  2. Click Publish a calendar and copy the generated ICS link.
  3. In the app, add a new iCalendar source and paste the link as the iCalendar URL.

Note: The URL of a "published" Outlook calendar should be impossible for others to guess as long as you keep it secret. But there may be situations where this method isn't as secure as a password-protected link. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not provide the option of an additional password protection for its .ics urls.
